Holy Spirit Retreat Center
March 4-9 & November 4-9 (Thursday - Tuesday)
Holy Spirit Retreat Center is located in the hills of Encino in the Santa Monica Mountains. In both March and November, temperatures are typically mild. Average high temperature for March is 72 degrees F., average low is 42 degrees F. Average precipitation is 3.6 ". This is the "rainy season" for Southern California. It would not be unlikely to get a day of rain. November averages are 75 degrees F for the high, and 42 degrees F for the low. Average precipitation is 1.29 inches. We are just entering the rainy season at this time, however it is typical to receive little to no rain in November.
Mary and Joseph Retreat Center
June 16 - 21 (Wednesday - Monday)
Joseph & Mary Retreat Center, our June location, is located on a Hilltop of the Palos Verdes Peninsula, overlooking the LA basin. Less than a five minute drive to the beach, this beautiful retreat center offers both the beauty of the coastal mountains and access to the California surf. Average temperatures for June are 75 degrees for the high, and 58 degrees for the low. Average rainfall is 0.08".
ARRIVAL
AIRPORT ACCESS:
- For Holy Spirit Retreat Center, the closest airport (and most easily navigated) is Burbank Airport - BUR (aka Bob Hope Airport).
- For Mary & Joseph Retreat Center, the closest airport is Los Angeles International Airport - LAX. Long Beach Airport is a second option at just 30 minutes away from the retreat center.
AMTRAK ACCESS:
The Burbank AMTRAK station is at the Bob Hope Burbank Airport. For those arriving by train, shuttle service to the retreat center can be picked up at the airport.
SHUTTLE SERVICE
Primetime Shuttle service is available fromBurbank, LAX airports, and Long Beach airports.. Reservations are not required. However, if you prefer to pay by credit card you can make a shuttle reseravation by calling 1-800-733-8267, or by going to the Primetime Shuttle website - primetimeshuttle.com. Shuttle pick/up without reservations require cash payments. Some vans, but not all, have credit card availablity. For private shuttle service with up to 4 passengers, contact Primetime at the above phone number or website.
To Holy Spirit Retreat Center:
- From the Burbank terminal, the Primetime shuttle cost is $20.00 for the first person, $10.00 for each additional passenger, with a 5% discount for a round trip ticket.
- From LAX to Holy Spirit Retreat Center the shuttle cost is $35.00 for the first person, $10.00 for each additional passenger. There is a 5% discount for round trip fares.
To Mary & Joseph Retreat Center
- From LAX, the Primetime shuttle cost is $29.00 for the first person, and $10.00 for each additional passenger. There is a 5% discount for round trip fares.
- From Long Beach Airport, the Primetime shuttle cost is $31.00 for the first person, and $10.00 for each additional passenger. There is round trip fares.
- From Burbank, Primetime Shuttle cost is $61.00 for the first person, and $10.00 for each additional passenger. There is a 5% discount for round trip fares.
METRO BUS When you arrive at Crenshaw and the Pacific Coast Hwy you are within two miles from the retreat center. A vehicle will be available to pick you up. Buses run approx. every 15 minutes during rush hour (5-8:30 a.m. and 4- 6 p.m.), every half hour from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and hourly after 6:00 p.m. http://www.metro.net/riding_metro/bus_overview/images/232.pdf
For Holy Spirit Retreat Center: SoCal Transport offers four bus routes from the Burbank Airport to the nearest bus stop by Holy Spirit Retreat Center. Cost of this transportation is $2.50, with approximately 1 hour, 15 minutes riding time. There is one bus transfer on all of these routes. The retreat is within one mile from the final bus stop. A vehicle would be available to pick you up.
For Mary and Joseph Retreat Center: From LAX take the Lot C Shuttle to the LAX transit center (No charge). FromBus Bay 8,board bus232 (Long Beach Transit Mall) heading west. Exit at Pacific Coast HWY and Crenshaw Blvd. Time: approximately 1 hour from the transit center. Cost: $1.25

DIRECTIONS TO MARY & JOSEPH RETREAT CENTER:
The Mary & Joseph Retreat Center overlooks the greater Los Angeles area and is located in the South Bay at the top of the Palos Verdes Peninsula near Crenshaw Blvd. at 5300 Crest Road in Rancho Palos Verdes, California 90275. We are approximately 30 minutes south of downtown Los Angeles, 20 minutes south of LAX and about 30 minutes west of Long Beach Airport. (Please note there is a Crest Road within 3 blocks of the Pacific Coast Highway and the Crenshaw intersection, this is not the correct Crest Road. We are quite a distance uphill on the top of the Palos Verdes Peninsula.)
From Orange or Riverside County:
Go north on the San Diego/405 or west on the Riverside/91 Freeway to the Harbor /110 Freeway-South. Exit the Harbor/110 on Pacific Coast Hwy-West (PCH), turn right at the bottom of the offramp. Continue on PCH to Crenshaw Blvd. Make a left turn (south) on to Crenshaw and proceed uphill approx. 2 miles to Crest Road at the top of the hill. WHEN YOU REACH CREST ROAD: At the intersection of Crenshaw Blvd. and Crest Road, the sign for St. John Fisher can be seen on the far left corner. Turn left on to Crest Road, then turn right into the third driveway and enter our gate. Parking is to the left and the office is to the right.
From the North or LAX:
Go south on the San Diego/405 Freeway to Crenshaw Blvd. Go south on Crenshaw Blvd thru Torrance, cross PCH and go up the hill. Proceed on Crenshaw to Crest Road at the top of the hill. WHEN YOU REACH CREST ROAD: At the intersection of Crenshaw Blvd. and Crest Road, the sign for St. John Fisher can be seen on the far left corner. Turn left on to Crest Road, then turn right into the third driveway and enter our gate. Parking is to the left and the office is to the right.
